Now to key to using Velocity Points to book flights is to look for flights that are classified as “Reward Seats” These are seats that cost minimal points and a little bit of cash sometimes in some instances you can just use points entirely (except for any applicable taxes). Follow our steps below on how to book flights with Velocity Points. The steps below are to book a One-Way ticket, just complete the same to book a return.
Step One – First you want to head over to the Virgin Australia website HERE
Step Two – Click on Book near the top left corner
Step Three – Click on Let’s fly
Step Four – Pick your Fly From location and your Fly to location. For this example we used Sydney to Singapore
Step Five – Now For this example we booked a One Way flight. We do this because sometimes we can get a better deal on the way back rather than a bundle or we’re using different point programs.
Step Six – Check your details on how many people are flying. Click Let’s fly in the bottom right hand corner.
Step Seven – Now you can book what flights you want but to get what we think are the best deals we look for flights with the purple V icon that says “Reward Seats Available”
Now you can choose from any of the available class cabins to book a flight. Choose from Economy, Premium Economy, Business or if you can find them, First Class / First Class Suite cabins.
When booking your flight ensure that you check the Flight Details to ensure its the airline you want to fly with. We pick Singapore Airlines because we find their service impeccable and their business lounges around the world are some of the best.
How To Book Flights With Other Airlines
Using the steps above you can book with different airlines, you can search for flights with Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Ethiad Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Hawaiian Airlines. There are more but these are their premier airline partners according to the Velocity Frequent Flyer Milage Calculator.
You can book direct with some of these airlines and transfers these points across but beware of the conversion rates. You will need to register an account with those airlines and link your Velocity Frequent Flyer Account to them. You can also transfer points across to Velocity if you want to use the points with them.
Singapore Airlines is a great example. If you want to book direct with Singapore Airlines you can link your KrisFlyer account to your Velocity Frequent Flyer Account and transfer the points across. Simply log into your Velocity account and locate the Link & Transfer button.
You should be aware that your details must match exactly on both accounts to link. For us we started from our KrisFlyer account and Linked to our Velocity Account. This was the easiest way.
We did encounter issues as my Velocity Account did not have a Middle Name associated with it but my KrisFlyer did as it must match my account exactly. I spoke to Velocity and they were great and so were KrisFlyer, they both helped with sorting out any issues that occured.
You will need to make sure you’re logged into the web page to use your points
